Battle of the Fantasy Gods Draft Order

The Draft Order! Instead of the traditional picking out of a hat, what I have done is I picked football teams out of a hat along with team manager names out of another hat. The manager that has the football team that scores the most points today (Week 17), gets the first pick....all the way down to the lowest score gets the 12th pick. In the event of a tie, I will look at the opponents score and which ever manager played the team with the higher score will win that spot. I put all 12 managers in one hat and all the football teams in another. This is how it playing out......

At 8:30PM, here is the latest breakdown....
Brian Fitzsimmons won the tie breaker as Philadelphia put a whupping on Dallas. Brad Stewart also finished with 24 but his kicker was lower than both Todd's and Brian's. Tim McLeod ties Troy Patterson with 27 but also comes in 4th thanks to the low kicker. As of right now, we will see where Chris McDonnell's team finishes tonight for the final Draft Order....

At 4:15pm, Mike Kuchera gets the pick over Scott White since the Rams scored 27 and Cleveland scored 0. In a weird turn of events, and something I did not plan for, both Todd Farino and Brian Fitzsimmons scored 24 points, but both opponents scored 31. It seems we need a third tie breaker. So, to be fair, I re picked the fairest game out of the hat and Todd Farino gets Dallas and Brian Fitzsimmons gets Philadelphia. The winner of that game, regardless of score, gets the higher pick. As it stands right now, Todd and Brian hold the 4th and 5th spots. So if Dallas wins for example, Todd would get 4 and Brian would get 5. If another team of the 4 remaining score 24 points, we will go back to the opponents score. If the opponents score is less than 31, they will pick below Todd and Brian. If they score more than 31, they will pick above Todd and Brian. Make sense? Stand by....

Battle of the Fantasy Gods League Rules are as follows.....

- Draft Date: Monday, January 5th at 8PM EST at www.MockDraftCentral.com
- We will play the league at www.CBSSports.com . Make sure you have a user/pass.
- 12 teams comprised of Fantasy Baseball Experts, Analyists, Bloggers, Podcasters, and Columnists
- No Fee
- Winner gets 1 Year FREE advertising at www.FantasyPlayersExpress.com for the 2010 season.
- Snake Draft ( No trading picks)
- Mixed League - Both AL & NL Players
- Rotissiere Scoring
- 5x5 Category Scoring (BA, R, SB, HR, RBI, W, K, ERA, WHIP, SV)
- Weekly Transactions
- Unlimited Trades - Trade Deadline is Midnight, July 31st 2009.
- 23 man active roster (2C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5OF, DH, 9P, No Bench Players)
- A roster must always have 23 active players. Since there is no bench, if you choose to pick up a player, you must drop an active player. Your roster will be illegal if you do not have a player at every position.
- 2 DL slots. DL slots cannot be used until Week 1 of the regular season. You cannot stash injured players on the DL prior to the season.

These are the basics. It's a normal league. Since many of us are playing in a bunch of other leagues, I want to keep this simple yet competitive. Questions, comments, suggestions??? Email me.

Welcome to the 2009 Battle of the Fantasy Gods Expert League

Welcome to The Fantasy Man's 2009 Battle of the Fantasy Gods Expert League! Follow along as we compile some of the fantasy sports industry's heaviest hitters as we intend to prove who really is a fantasy baseball god!

A Quick History
The Battle of the Fantasy Gods started back in 2007 when I, Mike Kuchera (a.k.a. The Fantasy Man) of Fantasy Sports Express, Inc. put together group of fantasy baseball experts, columnists, bloggers, and/or podcasters in an all out fantasy baseball face off. It was a 12 team, mixed, roto, 5x5, $270 budget auction draft league. Some participants included Tim McLoed of Roto Rob, Tim Dierkes of Roto Authority, Heath Schaffer of Roto Champs, Brad Stewart of MLB Front Office, Knox Bardeen of Crooked Pitch and a few others I can't think of.

As it turned out, I won my own league, and then no one wanted to play in 2008, so the league disbanded! As funny as that sounds, some of the same participants from that original league have been invited and plan to participate in the 2009 rebirth!

Going forward into 2009, I am going to brush the dust off this league's shoulders and start up something new and exciting. The hope is that the experts who join this league will be dedicated to making the league great. The people I have invited are some of the people who I keep in contact with the most in this industry and are the people who I work with and collaborate with from time to time. However, this will not be an impossible league to join. If spots are open and experts/columnists/bloggers/and podcasters are interested and are serious about contributing to this league and blog, then they'll have a chance to enter this madness. We may even offer another league at some point in this off season to accomodate more experts/analysts.

At the same time, participants are going to be asked to contribute to this blog. They can post thoughts, ideas, strategies in a way to help educate fellow fantasy managers of all levels who might want to follow along as well as have the opportunity to promote their own websites for free.

With that being said, the Battle of the Fantasy Gods Expert League Draft will hold it's 12 team draft at Mock Draft Central on Monday, January 5th at 8PM Eastern Standard Time. More details will be posted as we get closer to this date.

Here are the actual league details......
We will play the league out on CBSSports.com. It will be a 12 team, mixed, roto, 5x5, 23 man roster (no bench), 2C,1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5OF, 1DH, 9P. Pick up a player, drop a player. Simple as that!
